Distinguishing if someone is bulimic is typically not the easiest thing to spot, like anorexia. Most of the time bulimics are at average or just below weight because they may only binge to maintain their current, but of course not always. A particular detail to pay attention to would be if they run the water while their in the bathroom, most of the time this is done to cover up the sound of vomiting. Bulimics right after meals will go to the bathroom or wait three hours before the food digests. If at home the bulimic will even go drastically as taking a shower so they can do their rituals privately in there . Bulimics will usually say statements such as how fat they feel , exclaiming that they need to lose weight or often asking " how do i look " / looking in mirrors or their reflection often. In most cases, more food is obviously eaten than the normal, their engulfed in overachieving behavior, and frequent weighing. After a binge / purge the person will usually " punish " themselves by starvation or a brutal workout. The main reason for this is because it's the one thing that they can control in an out of control life. |
Great info, topic, and images. Perhaps focus a post or two on ways to help or getting info. Consider what you want your audience to comment amount. Is there a video or a poll that makes sense to include?
ReplyDeleteThis is a topic I wouldn’t think effects teenagers. I is sad that anyone would think of making them self throw-up.
ReplyDeleteIt's all out there. Actors, actresses, models... They're all trying to look and feel thinner. Did their parents ever teach them that what matters is on the inside? Yes, it feels nice to know that you're healthy and looking good, but when it all comes down to reality, isn't friendship - and I'm talking true, beautiful, gift-from-God friendship - all based on how you act and react to a person? Sure, we're all gonna have those "friends" who are only there because of what we have, what we look like, or what we can offer to them materialistically. But that doesn't mean everybody's like that. You don't have to make yourself throw up to be beautiful. If you're true to yourself, people will come to you like you're the only lighthouse in a hurricane. And you're shining brighter than everybody else because you're beautiful on the INSIDE.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I went a little off-topic, but it's true, isn't it? People want to feel beautiful on the outside, so they torture themselves on the inside. For those that are bulimic, just remember that there is help. There is hope for a better tomorrow where you don't have to worry about being thin or beautiful on the outside. Let your inner lighthouse outshine your outer beauty, which you all have no matter what the scale tells you.
I really like this blog. you did alot of work to it and it really explains this disease people can get. bulimia is an issue for sure.
ReplyDeleteThis blog was definatly one of the well thought out ones. No doubt. Well done.
ReplyDeleteAnd just a tip, I LOVE the background, don't get me wrong, but it took me forver to be able to comment because I couldn't see the comment link. I'm not saying take the background off, but you can change the colors of the link, and it might be a good idea to darken the link colors so people can see it, and comment more.
Its very hard to find and read some of your comments. I like your blog, because is beauty a great thing but you dont have to be skinny. In fact i think that a girl has to have a little bit of meat on her bones to be beautiful. For those of you who are Bulimic/Anorexic, please get help.
